20+ Years of history in education
The Innovative University College was founded a century ago in Petaling Jaya by a small group of prominent American intellectuals and educators who were frustrated by the intellectual timidity of traditional colleges. The founders, among them John Smith and Carlos Santiago, set out to create a new kind of academic institution, one where faculty and students would be free to honestly and directly address the problems facing societies in the 20th century. Their vision was to bring together scholars and citizens interested in questioning, debating, and discussing the most important issues of the day.
In 1980, they founded the Estudiar University for Social Research. Now formally named The Estudiar, the university has grown to include five colleges, with courses that reflect the founders’ interest in the emerging social sciences, international affairs, liberal arts, history, and philosophy, as well as art, design, management, and performing arts.

Leading University
1995 - 2000
1996
- Pusat Komputer Unik Sdn Bhd was incorporated on the 10th of January 1996 under Malaysian Companies Act 1967 and was having its first business address at Subang Jaya.
2001-2005
2003
- Pusat Komputer Unik Sdn Bhd was awarded a license to operate an institute of higher education under the name “Institut Multimedia Icon”.
2006-2010
2006
- Mr Ravendran Krishnasamy joined the institution as the founder of “New Innovative”.
2011-2015
2012
- Institut Multimedia Icon changed its name to “Kolej Antarabangsa Inovatif”.
- Puan Shahawati Omar was appointed as Chief Executive Officer.
2015
- Dato Professor Emiritus Dr Hashim Bin Yaacob was appointed as Chairman of the institution.
2016-2020
2017
- The institution develop a program with the industry called “Extended Faculty” where teaching and learning activities are co-taught by the industry.
- The institution expanded its business and moved into better facilities called Kelana Square, a commercial building located at the heart of Petaling Jaya’s space business district. (gambar kelana square)
2018
- The institution developed work based learning as effective teaching methodology for academic delivery. The first program which adopted this method is Diploma in Hotel Management.
2019
- The institution collaborate with Richwork International Sdn Bhd under a program called “Titan Membership”.
2020
- Mr Ravendran Krishnasamy handover Pusat Komputer Unik Sdn Bhd to Puan Shahawai Binti Omar and En Muhammad Anas Mohd Bukhori.
